Christmas 2011 was spent in Fergus Falls surrounded by grandmas and grandpas, great-grandmas, and cousins. It was a whirlwind of activity -- opening presents, sledding (in the whopping 1/2" of snow accumulated so far this year), building gingerbread houses, opening more presents, eating way too much yummy food, preparing cookies for Santa, and opening presents again! The kids had fun ... mom and dad did too, but were exhausted by the time the festivities wrapped up. Let's just say our plea for Santa to bring us some rest and relaxation was not fulfilled! Calvin says his favorite present is the pink toy vacuum which was actually given to Kadence. Kadence seems to enjoy all of her toys, and has been sporting cute new clothes and shoes all week. Eric and I are loving the new portable DVD player for the truck -- it helped keep Calvin entertained for over half of the trip back home (amazing!!).
Although I had my camera at my side all weekend, it was difficult to keep up with the constant movement of the kids. Calvin was so intense while opening presents and refused to lift his head to give mom even a quick smile ... what a stinker.
We're very blessed to have such wonderful families to spend time with over the holidays. Saying 'thank you' doesn't feel strong or big enough for the generous gifts we received. We hope someday we can pay it forward...
